Why support Lîla Dance

Supporting Lîla Dance not only means supporting new dance theatre to tour nationally, but also the communities we visit and work with and the freelance performers and professionals that help us produce our work.

For every new work we produce we have to write funding applications to even make it possible. This is why we make sure that each application supports as many freelance creatives as we can, so that we ensure a healthy arts sector.

We believe it should be a realistic ambition to work as a professional in the dance world. That is why every penny donated goes directly to keep Lîla Dance going.

We believe in the power of the arts

Dance is amazing. Everyone dances when they are a child and then so often we forget the joy it brings us.

We hope to rekindle the love of dance through involving participants in our work from the outset.

We share, invite people to learn with us and dance with us; often as part of our professional productions and we consider them as important as each professional sharing the stage with them.

Where your support goes

By donating directly to Lîla your money will be used to:

  • fund the work we tour

  • pay our Lîla Associate Artists to teach classes

  • ensure the freelance arts sector is healthy and financially stable.

When we’re on the road we always hope to work with the communities we visit, bringing dance to local groups that don’t often get the opportunity to experience it.

We run outreach workshops with participants of all ages. However, this is only possible through funding for the tour and participation activity.

We really appreciate your generosity and we’d love to say thank you so please do tell us why you’ve donated and perhaps we can invite you into the studio to come and watch us create and share our biscuits.
