The Deluge (2015)

Dancers: Jamie Morgans and Carrie Whitaker

First there was a loud crack in the city, and then a shudder out to sea. Four people arrive in the safehouse. With only the clothes on their backs, they find themselves asking what has been lost, and what is there left to lose? But in those darkest hours they start to understand how these strangers, and the contents of a mysterious unclaimed bag, might offer them all the hope they need as the sea returns.

In this intimate and immersive dance experience, four lives are given an emotional counterpoint by a supporting community cast.

The Deluge was Lîla’s first immersive work that toured nationally and rurally as part of The National Rural Touring Forum in partnership with The Place, China Plate, & TakeArt. The work was twice nominated for NRTF Awards in 2015.
